About Those James Webb Space Telescope Images

The James Webb Space Telescope has released it’s first images and they are breathtaking.

The Webb Telescope’s thirty year journey was filled with setbacks and delays but since its launch has delivered success after success and is now delivering incredible images that give us a look at the oldest light from deep into the universe that we have ever seen.

The first image released, “The Deep Field” image, is a tapestry of astronomical phenomena including gravitational lensing giving us a look at relativity in action plus we get a look at light that took 13 billion years to travel to the JWST before being photographed..

On this week’s Made of Stars Podcast, Wes and Shawn break down the images and explain what you see. Listen as Shawn explains the Deep Field, the Southern Ring Nebula, and the Carina Nebula images
