About Wes

Wes began his career in broadcasting and mass media in 1994. He’s hosted TV and radio talk shows, worked in multiple radio formats, been interviewed by radio and TV stations in three continents, published a pop culture magazine and served as the Director of Digital Content for iHeartRadio.

Wes has won multiple awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for his work as a talk show host and interviewer.

Wes’ pop culture convention interviews have won awards in the Best Produced Show Non-News or Sports category on multiple occasions. He’s covered conventions like Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration and Dragon Con for 20 years. His annual Dragon Con Pre-Game Show has featured guests from the Marvel and DC Cinematic Universes, Star Wars, and Star Trek like Evangeline Lilly, Zachary Levi, Ming-Na Wen and Karl Urban. He’s also interviewed legendary voice talents like Tom Kenny (SpongeBob) and Disney Legends Bill Farmer (Goofy, Pluto) and Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck).

Wes’ live coverage of Hurricane Michael in 2018 was utilized throughout the state of Georgia on iHeartRadio’s network of stations to prepare and inform listeners whose local broadcasters were unable to utilize their studios. This coverage was honored by the GAB with a Best Team Weather Coverage GABBY Award as well as a 2019 Broadcaster of the Year Award.

Wes has interviewed members of Congress from the House and Senate as well as candidates for seats in Congress, Governors and candidates for Governor, White House Cabinet members and strategists, and candidates for President.

Since 2007, Wes has done a weekly interview with Dr. Shawn Cruzen, the Executive Director of the Columbus State University Coca-Cola Space Science Center and interviewed astronauts, NASA staff and executives from SpaceX.

In 2003, Wes set a Guinness World Record for Most Hugs of Different People in 24 hours.

Since 2019, Wes has been performing in the annual Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Columbus Ballet in the role of Mother Ginger.
